We begin this episode by visiting Stoney Ridge Vineyards on Waiheke Island off the coast of New Zealand. Here Josh gives us a few lessons on the techniques involved in maintaining a vineyard. Next we meet our hosts Erin and Elisa, atop the Sky City Tower in Auckland where they start off the cocktail tour at Bar21. Here they sample cocktails made with feijoa, passion fruit, and kiwi flavored vodkas. Elisa’s first solo assignment is at the quirkily decorated Smith bar, where she samples their house specialty called Smith’s I Am. Then Erin takes notes at the exclusive hideaway, Britomart’s 1885 basement bar, for their Cuban Cloud. Next stop is Mea Culpa, and award winning establishment that is unapologetic about their recipes. They show us a cocktail made with wasabi, lemongrass vodka, cucumber, lime and ginger beer, The final stop of the tour is Corner Store, where they make syrups, in house, for their drinks. Here Erin and Elisa close the episode with a local joke for a drink.
