Welcome to barskool, where each week we take you on a cocktail tour to discover the most exotic drinks from around the world. Along the way we’ll bring you some spirited lessons on the science, history, and how to-s of alcohol. Our first season spans the globe, from Amsterdam to Auckland, Berlin to Bangkok. We’ll view some of the architecture, special points of interest, and establishments to learn of their local cocktail culture. We’ll meet with bartenders who’s recipes have become the local favorites as well as the people who enjoy them.
Here’s where we have been, and some of what you will see, in our episodes.
Amsterdam – Beginning with a lesson at the house of Bols, drinks made from desserts, to the proper pouring of a Heineken draft, Amsterdam will please many tastes.
Fiji & Istanbul – We take you on an island hopping tour in Fiji, learn of cava, then it’s off to Istanbul Turkey, for this two part tour.
Bali – Surprisingly, Bali brings us the most exotic drink of the world, along with much more.
Iceland – We’ve got blue drinks from the Blue Lagoon spa, and red drinks form the Harpa concert hall, as we view these stunning locations in Reykjavik.
Barcelona – A cocktail made with beer and gold, and an establishment that has sold over one million dry martinis, are a couple of highlights from Barcelona.
Singapore – We have breathtaking views from Ku De Ta, atop the Marina Bay Sands hotel, as well as the Clinic theme bar, to stimulate your senses in Singapore.
Niagara Falls & Honolulu – From the making of ice wine in Niagara, to the beaches of Waikiki, this two part episode brings you out of the cold and into the heat.
Berlin – We reveal the origin of the James Bond vesper martini, learn of the beer bike, then sample a drink made with fig marmalade on this tour.
Sydney – What’s colder than ice cold? The noble experiment cocktail. This, and drinks on top of the Shangri-la Hotel are some of our best finds in Sydney.
New Orleans – We visit some of the oldest and most renowned restaurants and bars in New Orleans. Antoine’s, Arnaud’s, and Napoleon House to name a few.
Auckland – Here we visit Waiheke Island for some lessons at Stoneyridge Vineyards, then we begin our cocktail tour on top of the tallest building in the southern hemisphere, Auckland’s Sky City.
Bangkok – We spend one night in Bangkok. Need we say more?
South Pacific beaches – We tour Tambourine Mountain distillery and visit the beaches of Phuket, Haad Rin, and Surfer’s Paradise to discover some refreshing cocktails.
